Services on Sundays
9am Holy Communion is a service in traditional language using Common Worship. It is held at Pidley on the 1st and 3rd Sundays which includes some hymns and is followed by refreshments. It is held at Old Hurst on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
10.30am Holy Communion uses Common Worship in contemporary language, a mix of traditional and modern hymns with the organ and choir. The service lasts about an hour and a quarter followed by refreshments. There is a carpeted area at the back of church for young children and a table with an activity or Sunday School connected with the theme of the service. Held at Somersham 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sundays (4th Sunday is a Family Service).
6pm Holy Communion is a quiet and reflective service of Common Worship sometimes with music in the candlelit chancel of Woodhurst Church on the 4th Sunday of the month.
Informal, Family and Breakfast Services
8.45am. Breakfast Service at Somersham is held on the 1st Sunday of the month. It is relaxed and informal, held at the back of church and begins with Bacon Rolls/ Croissants and Pastries. It is for any age and popular with families. The service lasts about half an hour.
9.30am Breakfast Sing & Praise at Old Hurst takes place on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Bacon rolls and Croissants followed by an informal and relaxed contemporary service.
A Family Service is a shorter more interactive service in contemporary language, often with a drama and a children’s activity. It is held at 10.30 – at Old Hurst on the 1st Sunday, Woodhurst on the 3rd Sunday (4pm in winter) and Somersham on the 4th Sunday of the month. In Somersham, refreshments are offered after the service and every alternate month includes a shortened all-age communion.
Evening Services
6 p.m. BCP Evening Prayer is held at Somersham on the 1st Sunday and Pidley on the 4thSunday of the month This is a short said service using the Book of Common Prayer.
6 p.m. Common Worship Evening Prayer is held in Woodhurst on the 1st Sunday of the month. It is a short, quiet, reflective service and usually held in the candlelit chancel.
6p.m. Taize Services are held every few months at Old Hurst church lit by candles. This music highlights simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is designed to help meditation and prayer.
Mid-week Services.
A Communion Service using Common Worship in contemporary language is held at 9.30 at Somersham every Wednesday and 10am at Woodhurst every 2nd Thursday of the month. Both are followed by refreshments.
